Concéntrico 05, the Logroño International Festival of Architecture and Design
Concéntrico is the International Festival of Architecture and Design of Logroño that invites us to reflect on the urban and city spheres. The new edition, Concentrico 05, is held from April 26 to May 1, 2019. The Festival invites you to tour the city through facilities, exhibitions, meetings, activities and performances that create a connection between venues, squares, streets, courtyards and hidden spaces that usually go unnoticed in our day-to-day.
Since 2015, the festival has gathered in its four editions 43 urban facilities created by teams of national and international architects and designers who are experimenting with new fields of environmental design. In this way, a dialogue is established between the city’s heritage and contemporary architecture that invites the citizens to reflect on these spaces.
Studios such as Picado de Blas (Madrid), MAIO (Barcelona), Branco Del Rio ( Coimbra), Boamistura (Madrid), Guillermo Santomà (Barcelona), Fernando Abellanas (Valencia), Plastique Fantastique (Berlin), Jorge Penadés (Malaga), David Bestué (Barcelona), Mjölk (Prague), TAKK, (Barcelona) have made interventions in previous editions of the festival.
This year more than 14 installations will be carried out at the festival: Benedetto Bufalino (Paris), FAHR 201.3 (Oporto), Lucas Muñoz (Eindhoven) or Vaumm (San Sebastián).
Exhibitions have expanded the focus on new international contexts, such as with the Czech architect Martin Rajniš, the architectures of Migrant Garden or the proposal of Goethe Institut Architectus Omnibus, in spaces such as the Würth La Rioja Museum, the exhibition hall of the Logroño City Council , where this year we will see the exhibition of Fundació Mies van der Rohe on the interventions that have been carried out in the Pabellón de Barcelona.
The scope of the activities have the support of the Programe of Internationalization of Spanish Cultural Action . Meetings and conversations with professionals from different countries on curating, researching and teaching, inform the public on some of the most prestigious events on architecture and design which are currently taking place in countries such as Portugal, France, Poland, Brazil, the United Kingdom or Chile.Every year the festival includes workshops, performances and conferences, such as the program on architecture publishing which will be presenting this year Moisés Puente and the publisher of the Arquia Foundation.
