2 – 5 September 2021
Concéntrico is the International Architecture and Design Festival of Logroño that proposes to reflect on the urban environment and the city. The new edition, Concéntrico 07, will be held from 2 to 5 September 2021.
The festival invites visitors to explore the city through installations, encounters, activities and exhibitions that discuss public space and places of coexistence – even more relevant at this time of pandemic – with a focus on the sustainability of materials and processes.
Since 2015, the festival has brought together 73 urban installations in its five editions, in addition to the proposals of 18 teams participating in Concéntrico 07 in 2021:

As fans of painting, skateboarding and writing, you look for niches and read the surfaces of buildings. You try to define the potential of these urban landscapes. Every surface is an opportunity to reimagine or redefine it.
1973 – 2021
A place of encounter, permeability and democracy, where three circles of 20, 30 and 40 metres in diameter and 44 cm in height are installed. A story about the collective construction of public spaces.
Ayuntamiento de Logroño
The intervention is the response of a creator committed to respecting nature. His work in the form of a large tree is made from recycled and disused elements, advocating sustainability and recycling.
The dome establishes a relationship with the architecture of the church: its volume is moulded into the central niche of the façade. The dome is temporarily monumental and is open to host civic rituals.
Matteo Ghidoni – Enrico Dusi
Plaza del Mercado
39186 Vacant Rooms
The intervention blurs the boundary between the human and the natural. A permeable structure interweaves the two parts, the city and nature, and forces us to ask ourselves what needs to change in society..
No Words Conversation
An invitation to dialogue or conversation in a design exercise that combines architecture and the city, sculpture and object to give people back an urban space to stay in.
Plaza del Revellín
St. Bartholomew hut
An artefact in which the exterior of the building, its “skin”, is emphasised as much as the surface of the intervention, which will become a carrier of information as important as its form.
Plaza de San Bartolomé
Monument to the Sisters of the Revolution
On the ruins of past utopias, it points to the need to readjust existing priorities and develop new models of design for all, where all species, classes and identities can coexist in harmony.
Patio del COAR
What if we (as a society) could deepen our relationship with the city by co-creating it? We propose a workshop in which participants can build their own bench or table, following our instructions.

Biblioteca La Rioja
Types of Spaces
The project restores the site to its status as a built space. A series of rooms form a spatial procession of corridors and rooms of a domestic nature, thus reconstructing the emptiness of the passage.
Palma + Hanghar
A black sphere with a diameter of 16m is proposed to be installed in the central oculus of the intermodal station. The oculi in their architectural origin had the function of windows or as a passage of light.
Intermodal Station Dome
La vida después
The installation is a rehearsal of the recycling and circularity that certain human interventions must follow. Based on reuse, it designs an outdoor space – a garden that forms part of the urban fabric.
Courtyard Museum of La Rioja
The pavilion, as a landmark of the festival, recognises the square, the sculpture and proposes an intervention related to this context. Its geometric forms are two pieces that complement each other: a bar and a circle.
Sauer Martins + Mauricio Méndez
Plaza Escuelas Trevijano
La contemplación de un límite
What can we do to make an abstract limit thicker? By giving meaning, by providing the space with equipment that allows us to take into account the environment and its conditions.
Paseo del Ebro
Support your local landscape
A sign, an advertisement, a notice. A large carved stone as an active part during the installation, and as an archaeological piece after the intervention. A symbol that anchors the structure to the site.
Vivian Rotie – Pablo Saiz del Río
Viña Lanciano Bodegas LAN
The intervention proposes a nomadic system, capable of reconfiguring itself in different territories. A module configured from constructive honesty, exposing the physical mechanics that allow its construction.
P + S Estudio de Arquitectura
Parque del Ebro
How to change an entrance? How to turn the school into an active space for the city? Spaces that serve as a link and change the way students and citizens access and relate to each other.
Esdir / Nerea Illana + Guillermo Botella
The installation allows a real experience of exchange to develop between citizens and visitors: to meet, to circulate energy, to create alliances and unique memories, unique to each of them.

The city and the locations
The seventh edition of Concéntrico expands the usual focus of the festival, the historic centre of Logroño, and connects this area with spaces that allow the creation of new approaches to the urban environment.
In addition to the usual spaces, new locations have been added that are a clear example of the objectives of the festival, a project that is constantly listening and evolving in order to continue to propose debates that focus on the city itself: the Villanueva neighbourhood, the Town Hall Square, the new Intermodal Station, the renovated courtyard of the Museum of La Rioja, and, most notably, the Ebro Park, where three proposals will be located.
The urban character of Concentrico is linked to sustainable processes. In this sense, the new locations, selected for their high landscape and ecological value, which seek to strengthen the relationship with the natural space of the Ebro River, the heritage and the history of the context, stand out. Spaces such as Viña Lanciano, or those close to the river, are a good example of this.
The management of the projects is focused on the reuse and recycling of the interventions. Also relevant is the base material we use, Garnica wood, which plays a fundamental role in the circular economy, as it is renewable, recyclable, reusable and biodegradable. This area will be extended in 2021 with signage, programmes and exhibitions, using sustainable material.
