Concéntrico 10

25 April – 1 May 2024

Programme

From April 25th to May 1st, 2024 in the Spanish city of Logroño, Concéntrico celebrates its tenth edition with a great transformation in which we want to visualise the future of cities and share the learning acquired about urban processes incorporating new formats, integrating publics and facing challenges that explo re time as a factor of change in urban and social design.

Concéntrico presents an extensive programme with 21 interventions, meetings and activities involving more than 100 professionals from 20 different nationalities: projects that propose to renaturalise public spaces, reinterpret methods of traditional and vernacular architecture to improve the thermal comfort of cities, reuse materials from industry or textiles from previous editions with a new use or recover the idea of housing under the gaze of an equestrian statue, all in a mixture that leads us to imagine the everyday from the real to the unreal.

Agenda

Find all the venues and spaces for the interventions, meetings, exhibitions and activities of Concéntrico 10, from 25 April to 1 May 2024 in the city.

The Street in 10 years

The new programme of Concéntrico with Porto Academy, aims to transform the way cities are built by introducing the time factor into the design strategy.

Educational spaces

As part of the collective component of the festival, several proposals incorporate work with educational centres in their development and design methodology.

Installations and teams

Since 2015, the festival has realised more than 120 urban installations, in addition to the ones we will realise in 2024:

Willem de Haan, Sara Ricciardi Studio, Soft Baroque, Muoto + Georgi Stanishev, Agence Spatiale, Corvin Cristian, Outpost Office, Malte Martin, KOSMOS, RaivioBumann, Syn Architects, Alei Verspoor, Fred Sancère-Encore Heureux architectes, Make it rain, Traffic Design, Esdir, Esd Madrid, Javier García, ji architects + Blas Antón, JBVA + Eugenio Nuzzo + Anatole Poirier + Alex Roux, Daryan Knoblauch.

Its development involves numerous collectives and entities that promote new collective practices in the public space from the local sphere with associated cultural entities that weave a cohesive network with the city.

Open Segments

The continuity and morphology of these spaces in the context of Concentrico cite the collective memory of space, resulting in various physical and intangible narratives.

Syn Architects
Patio COAR
Installation

Off-season Pavilion

The installation proposes to investigate local available resources in order to give them a new temporary life outside their productive cycle as an alternative to the excessive media and short-term architecture of festivals.

KOSMOS
Iglesia Santiago
Installation

The Wall

The aim of the installation is to close this plaza, in order to create an urban alcove, a room without a roof, where pilgrims can settle temporarily and take some rest in the shade.

Muoto + Georgi Stanishev
Plaza del Revellín
Installation

Public Monument

The temporary sculpture playfully questions the role of honorary statues in public space, as it directly combines the aesthetics of horification with a relatable scene out of everyday life.

Willem de Haan
Paseo del Espolón
Installation

Razzle Dazzle

A stage with performative actions, it asks us to be flexible in looking, in moving, in thinking: the leap as a symbol of an open, innovative, understanding and passionate gaze.

Sara Ricciardi Studio
Plaza del Mercado
Intervention

Dancing bench

A mechanism that provokes movement. By sitting on, we are encouraged to turn them manually, creating a surreal combination of an optical illusion and an unusual ergonomic sensation.

Soft Baroque
Parque del Carmen
Installation

Scenius 26003

By studying, evaluating, and analysing the street through conversations with locals, experts, and cultural producers, proposes an open process that is both iterative and incomplete by design.

Glorieta del Doctor Zubía

Citerne-Lit

The Citerne-Lit is a “camouflage project”. The idea is to use an object from the world of agriculture – and its imagination – to create a cocoon programme for an overnight stay in the heart of nature.

Fred Sancère—Encore Heureux architectes
Plaza San Bartolomé
Installation

make it rain

Make it rain bases its strategy on cooling cities in the midst of the climate crisis by using the thermal properties of bricks in contact with water.

make it rain
Patio Museo de La Rioja
Installation

Poplar Assembly

The installation is configured on the basis of the arrangement of a row of small, very slender poplars, which, by means of their repetition along a sinuous route, generate a permeable wall of vegetation.

Javier García
Plaza de la Diversidad
Intervention

Palo de Mayo

An invitation to party, to meet and exchange. It is a celebration of the city as we dream it, as we conceive it. It is an architecture around which we all converge, an infinite pavilion.

JBVA + E. Nuzzo + A. Poirier + A. Roux
Paseo del Espolón
Intervention

Cuaderno de surcos

A visual landscape on the natural lines drawn by the vineyards, reinterpreted through intuition: a reading with extensible industrial artefacts that allow us to decide and customise the environment.

ji architects + Blas Antón
Lanciano Vineyard
Intervention

Basic Forms

An interactive installation that challenges the conventional norms of urban design, focusing on disruption and embracing disorder within cities and public places.

RaivioBumann
Plaza Biblioteca Rafael Azcona
Installation

What comes through the wall

A research that focuses on elements and objects of public space, which are remnants, ruins, not fulfilling the original function to give it a new purpose, new function.

Traffic Design
Plaza Alonso de Salazar
Instalación

Fuente

The installation is a playful element where mirrors rotate on axes to show the reflection of the urban environment, of social activities and also of themselves, which makes it interactive in a hypnotic visual way.

Corvin Cristian
Calle Portales
Installation

Dancing carwash

The intervention is a vindication of the tradition and ritual of dance, movement is the resource that translates into a sign of joy and celebration, and provide a unique experience of the space that surrounds us.

Agence Spatiale
Chimney Passage
Intervention

Mikado Flowers

A poetic reading of urban space and landscapes. A plastic intervention that gives you a sign from afar. A landscape sculpture that you can walk through.

Malte Martin
Parque Felipe VI
Intervention

PackBags

Concentrico celebrates its 10th anniversary and in this period it has kept fabrics from the installations of the past editions. To commemorate its birthday, Alei Verspoor will reuse these fabrics in a new process.

Intervention – Workshop

Get out the chairs!

The intervention proposes a living organism that relies on people to generate its own spaces. A set of lattices from which pieces can be taken to form seats and tables. And take over the space.

Esd Madrid
Biblioteca de La Rioja
Intervention

Public Utilities

The installation is part of an ongoing investigation into the civic potential of notation. Can we make architecture through drawing — not as instructions for building, but as space itself?

Outpost Office
Plaza 1º Mayo + Schools
Intervention

Noventa y nueve

The Esdir students represent their design philosophy in a temporary structure inspired by a seven-pointed star. This idea was born in the sense of numerology and the message hidden behind the number 7.
