Concéntrico, in its aim to develop new formats that respond to urban transformations, presents Concéntrico x Cruïlla, an international initiative in collaboration with Festival Cruïlla, within the framework of Barcelona World Capital of Architecture 2026. This open call seeks the design of two temporary scenographic interventions for the festival’s main stages, to be located at Parc del Fòrum in Barcelona.

The open call is addressed to architecture studios and will remain open until March 17, 2026. Submissions must include a summary panel in A2 format. Two independent prizes will be awarded, one for each stage, each endowed with €12,000, covering both conceptual design fees and the technical development of the project. The estimated production budget will be €35,000 for the Damm stage and €22,500 for the Occident stage.

In the contemporary cultural context, festivals have become spaces for collective experience where music, city, and community intersect. Beyond their programmatic dimension, these events create temporary environments capable of generating identity and strengthening social bonds. Within this framework, ephemeral architecture is understood as a tool for creating shared experiences and activating new relationships between space and audience.

The project aims to develop proposals capable of engaging with the scale and complexity of a large-format music event, understanding the stage as an infrastructure that goes beyond its technical function to become an element of identity and experience. The interventions should engage with existing structures, the festival’s language, and the presence of brands, while contributing a contemporary architectural perspective.

The conceptual framework of the call, “Cruïlla is home”, conceives the festival as a space of coexistence where the community recognizes itself. Proposals should contribute to shaping this shared space, reinforcing a sense of belonging without resorting to merely decorative or superficial solutions, and understanding scenography as an infrastructure for inhabitation.

The call includes both the conceptual design of the proposals and their technical development in coordination with the Cruïlla team, the appointed scenographer, and the participating brands. The production and construction of the interventions will be undertaken by the festival, with supervision from the selected teams.
