Cómo vivimos la escuela, cómo vivimos la ciudad

Educational programme

Cómo vivimos la escuela, cómo vivimos la ciudad –How we live the school, how we live the city- is a project designed by the artist Maider López in collaboration with Concéntrico. The programme aims to creatively explore the relationship between students and public space. In the proposal, participants will have the opportunity to reflect on their emotions and experiences in different places in the school environment, through an exercise of symbolic and subjective signposting.

The project aims to make visible how the same space can evoke different emotions and memories in each person. The initiative is inspired by the project ‘How do You Live this Place?’ carried out by the artist in Huntly, Scotland, in 2010, produced by Deveron Arts. For Concéntrico, the proposal has been adapted for the current school context in order to take advantage of its educational and transformative potential.

The kit of How we live the school, how we live the city includes all the basic materials for the development of the project, as well as a guide-resource with activities.

Maider López’s project for Concéntrico aims to: encourage reflection and emotional expression through art in relation to the environment; create a collective artistic map that makes individual experiences visible; use art as a tool to identify and propose improvements in the environment; and encourage joint decision-making and teamwork through creative processes.
