Camp, La Leçon de Rome
Os Espacialistas
Plaza del Mercado – Concéntrico 09
CAMP is a kind of poetic camp, of an architectural, sculptural and performative nature, organized by the five geometric figures from Le Corbusier’s “Lesson of Rome” transformed into tents, installed in the Market Square of the city of Logroño, in the light of its history and the recent memory of the events of political occupation that took place there in the form of gatherings.
Under the influence of the Camp style and the Modulor measures, we will witness the ludic, physical, conceptual im-material dialogue between the Cathedral of Santa Maria de La Redonda and the five proposed pure geometric bodies: the cylinder, the pyramid, the cube, the parallelepiped and the sphere, with diverse programmatic personas.
The tent as a temporary shelter space and the minimum unit of this housing complex will appear in this context as a fictional and performative transgender device for questioning and social and artistic reflection, capable of measuring all present real and imaginary intensities.
CAMP is a kind of poetic segregation of body and space, of the history and events of the city of Logroño in the light of past and present memory.
It is a storytelling machine, of fragments and beginnings.
Camp is childhood, play and protection. It is recreation, rest and reverie. Countryside and city. It is a journey, a path, a party, religion, pilgrimage and vigilance. It is diversion, adventure and pleasure. Exile, emergency, displacement and migration. It is people, war and peace. Border, circulation and security. It is commerce, exchange and merchandise. Direct art, architecture and education. Sculpture, happening and performance. Poetics, philosophy and politics.
Movement, interval and passage. School, preposition and proposition.
Letter, map, medium and message.
It is human and animal body. Affection and desire.
Open body, party and manifestation.
Style, pro(ex)cess and manifesto.
Camp is a lesson of love.
For Os Espacialistas, the thought that counts is the one that walks and geometry is the relationship of affection that human beings establish with nature. In this CAMP we are going to put ideas in a state of permanent poetic reaction, exchanging and sharing words and phrases with all the Peripatetics who pass through this architectural zoon politikon, inviting them to express themselves and to become aware that only those who talk live.
Collectivism is the body.
Poetically, man inhabits the Body of Space.
