With the collaboration of the Centro Checo
In its core, DIY is a shared knowledge of how to build things through the instruction manuals.
By making something ourselves , we not only create “the thing” but also a relationship – we admire the chair created by us a way more than any other.
What if we (as a society) could deepen our relationship with the city by co-creating it?
We propose a workshop, where participants will be able to build their own bench or table – by following our instructions.
The outputs will be incorporated into the final composition. Thus, the participants will shape the city for the duration of the festival. When Concétrico ends, they can come back for their piece of furniture and use it at home.
It is also a comment – that the most important element of design is not the final object, but the process of creation.
Workshop / Collective construction
The project proposes a modular system for the courtyard of the Library of La Rioja, and invites the user to establish a direct link with each of the pieces that will form part of the intervention. Once Concéntrico is finished, each object, as a new souvenir of an ephemeral festival, will have a second domestic life in the homes of its authors.
