Concéntrico 05, the Logroño International Festival of Architecture and Design
Concéntrico 05, the Logroño International Festival of Architecture and Design, seeks to reflect on the urban environment and the city through different formats of architectural and design projects. The next edition will take place on 26, 27, 28, 29 and 30 April and 1 May 2019.
The festival propose two competitions for the creation of a temporary architectural intervention at Plaza Santa Ana and at Viña Lanciano – Bodegas LAN. The period for presentation of proposals will conclude on 27 December 2018 at 1:00 p.m.
Each installation is created by a team of architects and/or designers who make proposals, experiment and explore new fields of design with their environment, thereby establishing a dialogue between heritage and contemporary architecture, which seeks to activate citizens’ reflection on these spaces.
Intervention design and creation competition in Plaza Santa Ana

All creators (individuals or collectives) may adhere to these rules if they present projects for temporary interventions within any artistic discipline, design or architecture.
This competition proposes the creation of a temporary architectural intervention at Plaza Santa Ana.
This space is the result of a major debate over the medieval layout of the city. In an ideas competition in 1996, architect Ignacio Quemada posed the question:
“How to create a path to river Ebro, guided by the monuments, while respecting the hierarchy of the medieval design? How do you solve the dilemma of whether or not to open up a street and maintain the elongated gothic blocks? One street leading directly to San Bartolomé – too wide – would lead only to the blind wall of the Palace, creating a plaza that is too long.”
Eventually the studio DGN Arquitectos carried out the Herrerias Special Plan for Interior Reform (PERI): Plaza de Santa Ana has been configured in its interior, allowing for a new connection between Calle Marqués de San Nicolás and Calle Herrarías.

Intervention design and creation competition at Viña Lancianco, Bodegas LAN
Concéntrico 05, the Logroño International Festival of Architecture and Design
All creators (individuals or collectives) may adhere to these rules if they present projects for temporary interventions within any artistic discipline, landscaping, design or architecture.
This competition proposes the creation of a temporary architectural intervention at Viña Lanciano at Bodegas LAN.
Viña Lanciano in part of Bodegas LAN, in the El Cortijo neighbourhood of Lorgroño, against the backdrop of the Sierra de Cantabria. Encircled by a spectacular bend of the Ebro river, on whose shores the remains of the Roman Mantible Bridge are found, this unique spot of 72 hectares stretches across different paths and plots. It is proposed to act as a crossroads between two paths, across the bands of the territory annexed together and marked by the vine plots and the paths. These areas are seen as adjacent but not connected: places of opportunity, encounters, and a relationship with the environment.
Founded in the 70s in the heart of La Rioja Alta, Bodegas LAN’s name comes from the initials of the three provinces of La Rioja (Logroño, Álava and Navarra). Recognised for their commitment to the earth and their innovative nature, LAN has the privilege of working with exceptional raw materials from its Viña Lanciano vineyards, which provide the starting point for their most unique wines.
