Plaza Escuelas Trevijano – Concéntrico 09
We would like to introduce you to PUL, the new Urban Swimming Pool in Logroño. Unlike other pools, PUL is versatile, where the rules are not written and what is sought is spontaneity and free appropriation of its interior space.
This outdoor swimming pool is located in the Plaza de las Escuelas Trevijano, integrating with the existing elements and surrounding the large central tree. The square and its urban furniture are rigid and have a definite functionality, they are designed for transit and brief stops, becoming a hard and unfriendly space for social relations.
The new Urban Swimming Pool of Logroŕio aims to enclose a piece of square to create a new soft public space inside it, a comfortable space for leisure and care.
PUL can be assembled and disassembled and is easily transportable, so that in the future it will be able to soften other squares in the city. It consists of 39 wooden modules in the form of a mobile tank, each containing 3 yoga balls. By aggregating these modules, the pool space is delimited, leaving the users to decide how lined it is and what uses will be developed through the spontaneous release of the yoga balls inside.
In this way, PUL will have different states and its condition will vary depending on the users that colonise it or the activity that is intended to be developed. However, the objective will always be the same, to transfer the comfort of the home to the outdoor public space, blurring the boundaries between the private home and the collective space, turning care and comfort into something shared.
