The venue is located in the old medieval town of Logroño, the capital of La Rioja and also the capital of wine. Like any medieval old town, it is easy to read the contrast between the full and the empty, between masses and hollows, that is, between the private space made up of buildings and the public space of narrow streets. While you can find gaps in the filled spaces, they are always private. With the aim of blurring that line, this work creates a place of union which embraces both spaces.
Using the given material, the pavement, the colour and the shape, it aims to represent the culture of the place, the wine, always leaving ultimate freedom of interpretation to the viewer. These interpretations can be recorded inside a barrel, with the wood planks impregnated with wine, or even the earth of the vineyards.
Though the object appears closed, it includes a few openings that allow for interactions with the viewer, creating visuals that traverse the object. As well as narrow openings, the change in paving creates some uncertainty on behalf of the spectator, who hesitates about whether or not they can enter, creating a forbidden and not-forbidden space.
