La Rebelión del Crazy Army

IES Batalla de Clavijo – Concéntrico 09
This new “Crazy Army”, made up of the students and teaching staff of the IES Batalla de Clavijo, plans to “take” the school, studying and understanding the relationship between the buildings that make it up and its immediate surroundings.
This exercise of collective strategy, to make the educational centre permeable and reconnect it with the public space, will be resolved with constructed prototypes that will allow the “assault” from different flanks.
These collective constructions will be coordinated by technicians, teachers and different advisors, who will collaborate in the process and in the assembly, including, in addition, some members of the Lakalle Association, that although based in Vallecas, Madrid, will come to collaborate in this experience.
This is how these young teenagers become the main actors and propose alternative ways of using public spaces in connection with the “Batalla”.
This experience is framed within the clear objectives of the Carasso Foundation’s Planea Network, where working in educational environments through art and social commitment is fundamental as a tool for change.
Although the design process is not finished, conceptual lines and built structures are already being sketched out. So we hear stories of mobile towers, Trojan horses, walkways, ladders, steps, tirolinas and even tunnels.
The different elements, once their technical suitability, speed and reversibility have been studied, will be built with 100 wooden beams 6 m long and up to 150 boards of different woods, which will be reused after the end of the festival, just like the proposals in the public space that will remain as a catalogue of suggestions for possible actions by the public administrations.
