Logroño International Festival of Architecture and Design

Concéntrico is the International Festival of Architecture and Design of Logroño that invites us to reflect on the urban and city spheres. The last edition, Concentrico 05, was held from April 26 to May 1, 2019. The Festival invited you to tour the city through facilities, exhibitions, meetings, activities and performances that create a connection between venues, squares, streets, courtyards and hidden spaces that usually go unnoticed in our day-to-day.

Since 2015, the festival has gathered in its four editions 43 urban facilities created by teams of national and international architects and designers who are experimenting with new fields of environmental design. In this way, a dialogue is established between the city’s heritage and contemporary architecture that invites the citizens to reflect on these spaces.

Studios such as Picado de Blas (Madrid), MAIO (Barcelona), Branco Del Rio ( Coimbra), Boamistura (Madrid), Guillermo Santomà (Barcelona), Fernando Abellanas (Valencia), Plastique Fantastique (Berlin), Jorge Penadés (Malaga), David Bestué (Barcelona), Mjölk (Prague), TAKK, (Barcelona) have made interventions in previous editions of the festival.

In 2019, 16 installations were carried out at the festival: Benedetto Bufalino, Paris; Tools for action, Berlin; Vaumm, San Sebastián; FAHR 021.3, Porto; Lucas Muñoz, Eindhoven; Martin Kloda / Hana Procházková, Prague; Robin Falck, Helsinki; Parasite 2.0, Milan /Brussels; Alfredo Baladrón, Madrid; L’Ecole Nationale Supérieure d’Architecture de Normandie, Rouen; Escuela Superior de Diseño, La Rioja; Knitknot architecture, La Rioja; Jakub Szczesny, Warsaw; Pablo Losa y Gadea Burgaz, Madrid; EBBA Architects, London; Juan Llamazares, Madrid.

The exhibitions broadened the focus to new international contexts, such as the Mies van der Rohe Foundation’s Reflection Pavilion exhibition on the interventions that have been carried out in the Barcelona Pavilion, which we will see in the Logroño Town Hall exhibition hall; Architecture of the VII Day, in the Casa de la Imagen about the movement of social and collective construction in Poland; I’m plastic design in ESDIR; the exhibition of the Concentric Contests in COAR or the associated sputum (Super)Vivencias in the Sala Amós Salvador.

Concéntrico approached the field of television, film and literature with activities that focus on the city and architecture in a similar way to the festival with Enfoque: Arquitectura vs. Televisión/ Cine / Libros, where we will share experiences with the TVE program La 2 Escala Humana and music concert with the group of its presenter, Nuria Moliner, Intana; the projection Mies on Scene in the Filmoteca de La Rioja and the program on architecture editorials with the publisher Moisés Puente and the publishing house of the Fundación Arquia.
